National Bedlington Terrier Club Open Show  on 20th March 2010

Judges Critique

I should like to thank the committee of the National Bedlington Terrier Club for their invitation to judge this prestigious show. Entries for most open shows seem to be on the decline, but I am pleased to report that today’s exhibits were of an excellent standard. The quality of both dog and bitch puppies was such, that separating them was a difficult task. All exhibits in the Open dog class were recipients of either a CC or RCC, and to place them in order was a matter of “splitting hairs”. Bitch entries were numerically superior, an on looking at the line up for best bitch, I felt it to be of sufficient quality that it would not disgrace a Championship Show.

PD 5(1) 1.Walters and Mitchells’ Rathsrigg Millrace. 11mth. Old  blue dog, good balance and of correct size. Strong head, good topline, already has hard muscle that produced excellent movement. Unsettled when moving which cost him the chance of the top placing. 3. Colliers ‘Pocoblu Misterioso

2. Ames’ Sharnor Blue Diamond. Slightly smaller than 1, but right on breed standard. There is a trend towards larger dogs that could give the wrong impression that he is under sized. JB 1 Worralls’ Bisbee Everlasting Life with Bluesmurf. Nicely balanced young lady with good foreface and typical horseshoe front. Good topline when standing and moving , presented in top condition. On the day needed to settle a little when moving, but when she got going produced good movement. Still has plenty of time to sort out this minor problem.
