NATIONAL BEDLINGTON TERRIER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW

AUGUST 4th 2007

JUDGE – MR ELLIS HULME

JUDGES CRITIQUE

It was an honour to be invited to judge the National Bedlington Terrier Club championship show, the officials were happy with the entry made by 88 dogs. I appreciated the welcome and friendliness that was shown to me and I enjoyed the day immensely.
Hard working secretary, Alice Emsley, received a presentation to mark her 30th year as Club Secretary, a great feat of dedication to her favourite breed.
Presentation and conditioning, without exception, was excellent and those still learning the art of trimming had their charges in spotless order, remember, even the most skilful in the art of trimming were also once novices.
The biggest disappointment was tails, particularly in the males, too many were carried vertically, even some of the best were not exempt from this ugly failing. Please breeders, don’t let this become the acceptable norm, I do realise that if there were a simple solution it would already have been implemented.
Type and quality was very pleasing and the requirements of a working terrier, being neither weak nor course, was very much in evidence. I was pleased to observe that the current trends of over stretching and moving at break neck speed have not infected your breed.
